SALT LEISURE WEAR

SALT. The grain that every human needs to sustain life. SALT Leisure Wear is an eco-friendly athleisure and adaptive clothing brand that was started not only to help people suffering from Cystic Fibrosis, but to create a brand that is inclusive for every BODY!

Tara and Monique (co-founders), have been friends since high school and have both struggled with personal health issues (Tara with Cystic Fibrosis and Monique with Endometriosis). When Tara was diagnosed, it motivated us along with Tara’s aunt (Carol) to give back to the community which led us to start a gala called Breathe and Believe for Cystic Fibrosis Canada in our home town of London, Ontario. But years later over a conversation, the idea for SALT Leisure Wear started. The more we talked about it, it evolved into something more, and after almost 2 years of research, incubators and meetings it became a reality.

The Cystic Fibrosis community is very important to our brand, therefore using the name ‘SALT’ connects us to the CF community and reflects the nutritional importance to the human body. SALT plays a huge factor in everyone's nerve and muscle function which affects our vitality. It is extremely important for those who suffer with Cystic Fibrosis because they lose 3 to 4 times more salt through their sweat than those without CF.

At SALT Leisure Wear we are committed to using high end fabrics in our clothing manufactured here in Canada. Using bamboo materials became a natural choice as it naturally offers breathable, moisture wicking and odour resistant properties.

SALT Leisure Wear wants to provide inclusivity no matter your gender, size, ethnicity, or disability. To allow this we will provide sizes from XS to 4XL.

With inclusivity being our top priority, our brand also offers what we are calling the ‘Resilient Line’. Although this clothing looks like our standard pieces of clothing, the Resilient Line was created to make people with medical devices feel more comfortable and provide improved self care. These articles of clothing will have subtle openings to gain easy access for those who have medical devices. Our main focus has started with PICC line/Port access points in the chest and arm, and our brand has plans to expand this line as we grow.

These garments will not only allow peace of mind but will also reduce the stigma attached to these issues. We want to ensure our Resilient customers feel comfortable, included, and independent which will encourage our customers to feel more confident.

Giving back to the community is also very important to us here at SALT Leisure Wear, which is why we have started a program called 5X5 KICKBACK program. Please click the link to read more about here: 5X5 KICKBACK
